Memorable Hunts

A three year journey.

💪❤️ Strength isn’t always measured in muscles — sometimes it’s measured in spirit.

In 2022 our dear friend, Jimmy Sites brought Braedan and his family to WCR for Youth Weekend to hunt and from then on, our lives were changed for the better. Over the last 4 years Bryce and I have come to know and love the Henegar family, especially Mr. Critter Getter himself.

Braedan lives with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, a condition that weakens the body over time, but if you’ve ever met him, you know that he and his families joy, faith, and positive outlook could light up any room.

Where others might see limits, Braedan sees opportunities — to laugh, to connect, to encourage, and to remind us all that life is meant to be lived with purpose and gratitude. He reminds everyone around him that life isn’t about what you can’t do — it’s about what you can do with the time and gifts you’re given.

And see, here’s the thing, this same thing goes for his amazing, selfless, caring parents. They are an absolute joy and inspiration to be around. Their love, devotion and dedication to Braedan are second to none.

We’re so thankful for the way that Braedan and his parents, Scott and Tammy continue to inspire us and everyone they meet. Their faith, strength, and outlook on life are a true example of God’s grace in action.

Braedan is a true hunter at heart, which is how he donned the name, Critter Getter. There aren’t many North American animals that Braedan hasn’t been blessed with the opportunity to harvest or hunt. Last year, while hunting at WCR and harvesting a beautiful Texas Dall, Braedan told Bryce and Reagan that he had his heart set on completing the Texas Ram Slam — the ultimate challenge for hunters who love adventure, conservation, and a good Texas story.

This year, he came back and harvested a Black Hawaiian during his hunt with Sights On Christ; completing 2/4 of the Texas Ram Slam. Once the Henegar Family left WCR, they were headed straight to New Mexico for another amazing few days of hunting.

God started working as soon as B-man left for his Elk hunt in New Mexico. Within 24 hours of him leaving WCR, Sights on Christ called us and said, we want to help make his dream a reality and complete his Slam with two TROPHY rams. God made it all possible, putting the right people, in the right place at just the right time. And before we knew it, the rams were here, delivered by Billy Kornegay with Billy Buck’s Deer & Exotic Sales and B-man was back at the ranch ready to complete his Ram Slam after successfully harvesting a cow elk in New Mexico. And well, the rest is history as you can see in the pictures below.

Bryce and I are so incredibly grateful to be able to work at Wildcat Creek Ranch alongside Reagan and Jennifer Riddle Stricklin to be able to provide a place where hunters can pursue great hunts surrounded by fellowship, good company, and God’s great outdoors. Because thats truly what hunting all about.
